Summary / Abstract:

LT2004 m. Ažušilės pilkapyne (A 1546) (Ignalinos r.) buvo tęsiami dar 2000 m. pradėti miško kvartalinių linijų sužalotų pilkapių archeologiniai tyrinėjimai. 2000-2003 m. pilkapyne ištirti 7 miško kvartalinių linijų žalojami pilkapiai. Dalyje jų aptikta sveikų ar apardytų kapų, kituose - tik įkapių iš suardytų kapų (žr. ATL 2000 metais, V., 2002, p. 57; ATL 2001 metais, V., 2002, p. 82-84; ATL 2002 metais, V., 2005, p. 63-66; ATL 2003 metais, V, 2005, p. 80-81). 2004 m. Ažušilės pilkapyne ištirti dar du pilkapiai, ardomi miško kvartalinių linijų [p. 69].

ENIn 2004 in the Ažušilė barrow cemetery 2 barrows disturbed during forest planting and quadrate line ploughing works were investigated. The barrow No. 8 had a mound made of yellow sand 6-6.5 m in diameter. It was surrounded by 6 pits of different form and size. At the bottom of the barrow there was a cremation containing burned iron items: two spearheads, a knife and a buckle. In the plough zone layer more items coming from disturbed burials (an awl and a buckle pin) were found. The barrow No. 9 used to have a mound of 7-7.5 m in diameter, but it was completely destroyed during ploughing and forest planning works. The barrow was surrounded by 2 ditches and 4 pits. The burials were not found; they must have been destroyed. In the plough zone layer the following iron items from the destroyed burials were found: a spearhead, a spearhead blade tip, a knife and an awl. According to the structure, form and burial items the barrows are datable to the 8th-11th century.
