Kelio ties Velžiais žvalgomieji tyrinėjimai

LTUAB „Kelprojektas“ užsakymu 2006 m. rudenį vykdyti kelio A9 Panevėžys–Šiauliai 42,17–55,22 km (Radviliškio r.) žvalgomieji tyrinėjimai. Šis kelio ruožas bus platinamas į abi puses, dviejose jo vietose suprojektuoti apjungiamieji keliai. Žvalgomųjų archeologinių tyrinėjimų tikslas – patikrinti, ar numatytame platinti kelio ruože yra archeologinių objektų. Ekspedicijos metu visa kelio trasa pereita pėsčiomis ir atidžiai apžiūrėta, kai kurios jos vietos patikrintos metalo ieškikliu. Įvairiose trasos vietose ištirti 44 šurfai [p. 470].

ENIn 2006 a field evaluation was conducted on the 42.17–55.22 km segment of the A9 Panevėžys–Šiauliai road (Radviliškis Dist.). The evaluation’s aim was to check whether there are any archaeological objects in the segment of road foreseen to be widened. 44 test pits with a total area of 62.99 m2 were excavated at various locations on the route. The cultural layer found in 3 test pits (26, 32, and 33) was preliminarily dated to the 17th century on the basis of pottery. All 3 test pits were excavated on the lot of Feliksas Šlėvė, which is in Velžiai village between the 48 – 49 km marks and to the S of the Panevėžys–Šiauliai road. A larger scale excavation should be made in their vicinity prior to the construction of the road.
