ENAn area of 23 m2 was excavated at Tilto St. 3 in Žagarė (Joniškis Dist.) during an evaluation there. Cultural layers from the 2nd half of the 18th – 1st half of the 19th century were unearthed at a depth of 70–90 cm and contained contemporary finds that have so far been little known: traditional local (reduction) and oxidation glazed and unglazed pottery, a cornice stove tile sherd, an undetermined coin, animal bones, and a white porcelain (covered with blue on the outside) pipe bowl. Isolated 17th century finds were found in this layer: shallow and deep ‘pot-shaped’ stove tile (Topfkachel) sherds. In test pit 2, a foundation built of stones in the late 18th – early 19th century was unearthed in the sterile soil, namely dolomite.
