Tyrinėjimai Gedimino prospekte ties Lukiškių aikšte

LT2006 m. vykdyti archeologiniai tyrinėjimai Vilniuje, rekonstruojamoje Gedimino pr. dalyje tarp Vasario 16-osios ir V. Kudirkos g., šalia Lukiškių aikštės. Tai mažiausiai užstatyta prospekto dalis. Jos P pusėje dabar stovi du XIX a. pabaigoje statyti pastatai: 1897–1899 m. – teismo rūmai (Gedimino pr. 40) ir 1900–1902 m. – mergaičių gimnazija (Gedimino pr. 42; dabar – Lietuvos muzikos akademijos centriniai rūmai). Prospekto Š pusėje yra XVIII a. pradėta formuoti Lukiškių aikštė [p. 390].

ENIn 2006 an excavation was conducted in Vilnius next to Lukiškės Square in the part of Gedimino Avenue being reconstructed between Vasario 16-osios and V. Kudirkos Sts. On the S side of the avenue stand two brick public buildings that were built in the late 19th – early 20th century while on the N side is Lukiškės Square which began to form in the 18th century and was used as a market place until the mid-20th century. A 3000 m2 area was excavated in the avenue’s roadway and another 4000 m2 under the pavements but no undisturbed cultural layer was found. The chance finds collected such as a glass bottle bottom with an inscription are connected to the market place activities and date to the 19th – early 20th century.
