Summary / Abstract:

LT2006 m. Trakuose, sklype Galvės g. 4 vyko archeologiniai žvalgomieji tyrinėjimai. Anksčiau šis sklypas netyrinėtas. Sklypo Š dalyje išlikę nebaigto statinio pamatai su rūsiu, sklypas apžėlęs žole, nenaudojamas. Sklypą per vidurį PR–ŠV kryptimi kerta požeminis dujotiekis. Žvalgomųjų archeologinių tyrinėjimų metu iškasti 4 šurfai, ištirtas bendras 21,3 m2 plotas, aptiktas iki 2,8 m storio kultūrinis sluoksnis [p. 359].

ENIn 2006 an evaluation was made at Galvės St. 4 in Trakai. During it, 4 test pits with a total area of 21.3 m2 were excavated and a cultural layer up to 2.8 m thick was discovered. 0.76–0.92 m thick cultural layers, which date to the late 16th–17th century and were formed at this site by dumping brick and roof tile rubble as well as pot and stove tile sherds on a layer of peaty earth, were discovered at a depth of 1.6–1.76 m in the test pits dug in the S part of the lot. The dense rubble fill of discovered red bricks (including mouldings) that have been deformed and partially melted by intense heat allows one to make the assumption that a brick manufacturing site existed near the lot at Galvės St. 4. The 0.34–0.4 m thick layer of peaty earth at the bottom of the test pits shows that this location was damp and had standing water. The remains of a lime kiln from the 1st half of the 20th century were discovered in a test pit excavated in the N part of the lot.
