Tyrinėjimai Karaimų g. 60

LTKaraimų g. 60 sklype Trakuose pagal suderintą projektą buvo numatyti sklypo užstatymo darbai. Prieš pradedant vykdyti šiuos darbus, 42 arus užimančioje sklypo teritorijoje buvo atlikti žvalgomieji archeologiniai bei, aptikus archeologiškai vertingą kultûrinį sluoksnį, plačios apimties archeologiniai tyrinėjimai [p. 355].

ENIn 2006 a field evaluation and a wide scale excavation were conducted at Karaimų St. 60 in Trakai. During the evaluation 21 test pits were excavated in the lot’s territory. Alongside Karaimų St. in the N part of the evaluated territory, a valuable cultural layer was noted. 3 sections, the total area of which was 230 m2, were unearthed there. During the excavation, the remains of a brick basement of a structure dating to the late 16th(?)–17th century were excavated there. Inside the structure were discovered late 16th–17th century finds among which pottery predominated: pots, pitchers, plates, and stove tiles. The archaeological data allows one to state that the discovered building was demolished in the 2nd half of the 17th. After taking into consideration the location of the discovered structure and the complex of discovered finds, it is possible to ascribe it to the guard tower, which written sources mention as existing in this territory.
