Summary / Abstract:

LTArcheologiniai tyrinėjimai sklype Nemuno g. 21 atlikti sklypo PR dalyje numatomo statyti naujo pastato vietoje. Tyrinėjimų tikslas buvo nustatyti susiformavusių kultūrinių sluoksnių stratigrafiją ir chronologiją, išsiaiškinti, ar numatomame užstatyti plote išliko senojo užstatymo pėdsakų [p. 294].

ENAn area of 43 m2 was excavated during an excavation in 2006. A series of cultural layers 1.5–2.25 m thick had developed in the excavated locations. Above the original ground surface, which consists of oxidised sandy loam, a layer of dark grey garden humus 40–95 cm thick formed during the 16th–19th centuries. It contains a few finds dating to the mid-16th–19th centuries, white glazed plate sherds and thick green glass bottle shards were found on the surface of this layer. No traces of any structures were found at the excavated sites. It is planned to lay the modern-day Smalininkų Street on the already formed garden layer. When the construction of brick buildings was begun on present-day Nemuno St. in the mid-19th century, the surface of the ground was suddenly raised in the S part of the lot by filling it with layers of grey soil and rubble 1.1–1.35 cm thick.
