ENThe lot at Santakos St. 12, which belonged to the Bernardine monastery up until the 19th century and was used for gardening, was excavated in 2006. The 1847 Kaunas city plan shows a wooden house with a garden at the site of the present-day brick house. The current building at Santakos St. 12 was erected at the turn of the 20th century. 3 cultural layer cross-sections with a total length of 19 m were recorded in the walls of an arbitrarily dug pit 40 m2 in area. The cultural layers on the lot are from 0.8 to 2.4 m deep. Stove tile and household pottery sherds dating to the 2nd half of the 16th–17th century were found in the upper layers. The remains of a demolished brick basement dating to the 18th – turn of the 19th century were recorded to the W of the house.
