LT2006 m. buvo atlikti žvalgomieji archeologiniai tyrimai Pivašiūnų miestelio (Alytaus r.) Švč. Mergelės Marijos Dangun Ėmimo bažnyčios teritorijoje [p. 253].
ENIn 2006 a field evaluation was made of the grounds of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the town of Pivašiūnai (Alytus Dist.). The present church was built in 1825. A total area of 50.4 m2 was excavated 1.9–3.5 m from the E and W walls of the church at the site of a rainwater sewer line in the churchyard. Two 2.5 m thick red brick walls 11 m apart were discovered to the W of the church. The walls run E under the church’s foundation and continue W about 50 m to the cemetery. According to a signet ring chance find discovered on the S wall, it is possible to date the walls to the 16th–17th century.
