LTŽvalgomieji archeologiniai tyrimai šalia Kelmės buvusios dvaro sodybos rūmų (G 16K) (Kelmės miestas) pradėti dėl numatomų pamatų tvarkymo – izoliacijos ir nuogrindos įrengimo bei telekomunikacijų perkėlimo darbų. Dvaro sodyba yra pačioje Kelmėje, netoli miesto bažnyčios. Jos teritorija užima 15,2 ha plotą. Sodybos užstatymą sudaro pastatų visuma, daugiau ar mažiau tarpusavyje tolygiai išsidėsčiusi teritorijoje. Dvaro sodyboje išsiskiria 2 skirtingos paskirties kiemai: reprezentacinis-gyvenamais ir gamybinis kiemas pakalnėje [p. 228].
ENThe brick manor house at Kelmė was built circa 1780 and reconstructed in 1892. A field evaluation was begun beside the manor house due to the foreseen renovation of the foundation. During it 5 test pits with a total area of 25.2 m2 were excavated and the earthwork monitored along the entire perimeter of the house’s exterior wall and where the telecommunications lines were laid. Various pottery sherds dating from the late 16th – early 17th to the 1st half of the 20th century, handmade nails, faience vessel sherds, and glass shards were found at the evaluation sites. A fragment of a curb bit with a single jointed iron mouthpiece was found in test pit 1. A brick structure was discovered in test pit 2, which was excavated 70 cm from the manor house’s wall. The structure’s foundation was unearthed at a depth of 1.7 m. The foundation was L shaped, 180 x 60 cm in size, and made of 28 x 14 x 6 cm red bricks. Bricks with frogs, which could date to the early 17th century, were found in digging the test pit. The bricks had been bound with lime mortar. The purpose of this foundation is not entirely clear. It is thought that it could be the foundation of stairs leading into the manor house.
