ENAgriculture in Lithuania performs a significant social, ethno-cultural and environmental function. In the Strategy for Agricultural and Rural Development in Lithuania, the dairy sector has been acknowledged as a priority branch of agriculture (Figure 1). The transition from central planned economy to market economy has been very complicated and hard. A very high decrease in animal production has been recorded.
