Ištirtas pilkapis 17 skirtinas Rytų Lietuvos pilkapių kultûrai, pagal įkapes jį galima datuoti V a. antrąja puse. [...] [p. 132-133].

ENIn 2006 disturbed barrow 17 (a total area of 404 m2) was excavated in Paduobë (Šaltaliûnë) group 3 barrow cemetery (Švenčionys Dist.). The surviving part of the barrow mound was 15–17 m (with the ditches, up to 23 m) in diameter and up to 1.1 m high. A looted and disturbed inhumation burial, in which a 25–30 year old male had been buried with a horse, was found in the barrow. Several grave goods were found in the disturbed part of the burial: two pieces of an iron fighting knife, an iron loop with two chains and a fragment of a chain with three links, a bronze coil ring, and a gilded silver tongue from a buckle. The horse skeleton was undisturbed and without grave goods. The barrow had been created in several stages. There were five pits of various sizes in the immediate vicinity of the burial. Sand had been dug out of them and piled on top of the burial. A knife was found at the bottom of one of these pits. The barrow was later enlarged by digging soil from 10 more distant pits that surrounded the mound and formed an almost continuous ditch contour. The barrow was apparently topped with a stone circle, of which only individual stones remain on top of the barrow’s base. Several circle fragments were recorded in the pits located around the burial. Some of the stones that were found had slid into the pits surrounding the barrow. The studied barrow should be ascribed to the East Lithuanian barrow culture and according to the grave goods it is possible to date it to the 2nd half of the 5th century.
