Summary / Abstract:

LT2003 m. lapkritį - 2004 m. birželį Vilniaus Šv. vyskupo Stanislovo ir šv. Vladislovo arkikatedros bazilikos kapitulos kriptoje buvo atliekami archeologiniai tyrimai. Archeologinius tyrimus pilių tyrimų centre „Lietuvos pilys“ užsakė Vilniaus arkivyskupija, kuri jau buvo pradėjusi kapitulos kriptos pritaikymo arkikatedros lobyno ekspozicijai darbus [p. 630].

ENIn November 2003 - June 2004, an area of about 182 m2 was excavated in the Crypt of the Chapter of the Cathedral Basilica of St Stanislaus and St Ladislaus of Vilnius, and a cultural layer of 40-90 cm and up to 1.8 m thick in the holes dug for the foundations of the support pillars of the Chapter Crypt was recorded. Based on the cultural layer, 5 stages of the development can be distinguished, covering the period from the 1st millennium (settlements with rusticated pottery) to the end of the 20th century. The layer of the rusticated pottery settlement is fragmentary, only 2-5 cm thick. About 100 small sherds of rusticated ceramics have been collected. The construction of the crypt in the middle to second half of the 16th century is confirmed by pottery from that time. The crypt was built in several stages. During its construction, the previous wall 1,7 and 1,8 m in thickness was removed. Later, the surface of the crypt was raised by piled rubble averaging 70-80 cm. This section of layers is preserved.
