ENIn 2022, detailed excavations were carried out at the site of the gas pipeline accident at 1 Arsenalo St. in Vilnius. Two trenches were excavated. Trench 1 covered an area of 86 m2 and Trench 2 was 17 m2 in size. The total excavated area was 103 m2. In Trench 1, an archaeological layer with finds from the 18th and 19th centuries was recorded at a depth of 0.5-1.6 m. An earlier layer, dating from the second half of the 17th to the 18th century, was recorded starting at a depth of 1.6 m and yielded finds typical of this period, including a knife fragment with ornamental bone scales. At a depth of 70 cm and beyond, masonry fragments were uncovered, attributed to a building dating from the second half of the 18th century to the first half of the 19th century. Trench 2 was excavated up to a depth of 2.5 m, and yielded only 20th-century fills deposited during the construction of the gas pipeline. The excavation yielded a total of 253 finds.
