ENThe article focuses on the correspondence between Zygmunt Gloger and Jan Karłowicz (1836–1903), the editor of the geographical-ethnographical monthly “Wisła,” the author of Dictionary of Polish Vernacular. It analyzes the content of fifteen letters from the period 1877–1902, kept in the Historical Archive in Vilna (Lietuvos vyriausiojo archyvaro tarnyba). The correspondence is largely informative in its character, updating each addressee on planned and finished journeys, editorial problems, and commenting on the texts in progress. The letters resemble reports with personal elements. The main focus of the article is on archeological issues and Gloger’s research travels.
