Laisvės aikštės tyrinėjimai Šeduvoje

LT2007 m. vykdant archeologinius žvalgomuosius tyrimus Šeduvos mieste (Radviliškio r.), Laisvės aikštėje buvo ištirta 10 šurfų (bendras tirtas plotas sudaro 21,16 m²). Tuo pačiu vykdyti ir archeologiniai žvalgymai, kurių metu fiksuotos kasamos tranšėjos, kurių bendras ilgis – 191 m. Tyrimų metu buvo aptiktas 70–98 cm storio kultūrinis sluoksnis, kuriame fiksuota nuo 4 iki 13 horizontų, datuojamų XVIII– XX a. viduriu, tirtos 4 pastatų liekanos. Galima teigti, kad intensyviausia veikla vykdyta aikštės ŠR dalyje. ia susiformavęs ryškiausias kultūrinis sluoksnis. Jame fiksuotas storiausias raudono plūkto molio horizontas, kuris žymėjo buvusį aikštės paviršių. Sluoksnis preliminariai gali būti datuojamas XIX–XX a. Aikštės ŠR pakraštyje vis dar stovi išlikęs XVIII a. pabaigoje statytos karčemos pastatas. Šalia jos ŠR aikštės dalyje stovėjo ratinė. Ankstesnių archeologinių tyrimų metu nustatyta, kad ratinės pastatas buvo 32 m ilgio, 15 m pločio. Pastato vidus buvo padalytas į 3 dalis. V dalyje buvo arklidės, R – ratinė, vidurinė dalis – važiuojamoji. Pati aikštė tuo metu buvo išgrįsta akmenimis. Šurfe 1 84 cm gylyje fiksuotas pastato pamatas, dėtas iš stambių (20–30 cm skersmens) akmenų. Tarpai tarp akmenų užpildyti tamsiai pilka žeme, viršutinė dalis mūryta iš 29x14,5x6,5–7 cm dydžio plytų, rištų kalkių skiediniu. Šis pamatas priklausė ratinės V dalyje buvusioms arklidėms ir yra datuojamas XVIII a. pabaiga. ŠV tranšėjos 9–11 metre 40 cm gylyje fiksuota pastato siena, mūryta iš raudonų 27–28,5x13–14x6,5–7 cm dydžio plytų, rištų kalkių skiediniu. Siena tęsėsi PV– ŠR kryptimi, fiksuotas jos ilgis buvo 2,8 m, aukštis – 30 cm. Sienos apačia nebuvo pasiekta. Tirta siena yra XVIII a. pabaigoje statyto ratinės pastato V kampas. [...] [p. 465-466].

ENIn conducting a field evaluation at Laisvės square in Šeduva (Radviliškis istrict), 10 test pits (a total area of 21.16 m²) were excavated in 2007. At the same time a field survey was conducted, during which dug trenches (a total length of 191 m) were recorded. In conducting the investigation, a 70– 98 cm thick, 18th – mid-20th-century cultural layer was established and the remains of 4 buildings found. It was established that the most intense activity occurred in the part of the square. That was where the most distinct cultural layer had formed and where all the finds were concentrated. The thickest packed red clay horizon, which marked the former surface of the 19th–20th-century square, was recorded in it. A surviving inn building erected in the late 18th century still stands on the square’s edge. A coach house stood beside it in the square’s part. A late 18th-century stone building foundation, which belonged to the stables located in the part of the coach house, was recorded at a depth of 84 cm in test pit 1. A building wall, the corner of the late 18th-century coach house, was recorded at a depth of 40 cm in the trench. The remains of part of another building wall and foundation, which are contemporary with the remains of the buildings found in test pit 1 and the trench and are connected with other buildings belonging to the inn, were recorded at a depth of 40 cm in test pit 8. A thin (2 cm thick) layer of dark grey earth with charred wood particles (the original late 18th-century ground surface), which may be connected with one of the known fires in Šeduva (1795 or 1798) was recorded at a depth of 1.32 cm in trench 1 in the part of the square and below the packed red clay horizon, which marks the former 19th–20th-century surface of the square.The same layer was recorded in test pit 6 at a depth of 40 cm. A later cultural layer created in the late 19th–20th century was recorded in the S corner of the square.
