Tyrimai Švenčionėlių gatvėje 27

LTŽvalgomieji tyrimai Kaltanėnų miestelyje (Švenčionių r.), žemės sklype Švenčionėlių g. 27, vykdyti sklypo savininkų užsakymu. Tyrimų vieta yra Kaltanėnų miestelio centrinėje dalyje, tarp Žeimenos upės ir pagrindinės komunikacijos ašies - kelio, jungiančio Švenčionis ir Uteną, dabar Švenčionėlių gatvės, apie 80 m į PV nuo bažnyčios. Sklype Švenčionėlių g. 27 anksčiau archeologiniai tyrimai nevykdyti [p. 286].

ENDuring the field evaluation (10 test pits totalling 10 m2) at Švenčionėlių St. 27 in the town of Kaltanėnai (Švenčionys District, E Lithuania), Test Pits 1-3, which were near the street, in the NE part of the lot, yielded 19th-20th-century cultural layers to a depth of 10-25 cm, followed by, on average to a depth of 60-65 cm, a 17th-18th-century cultural layer with sherds of late 16th-17th-century household pottery and panel stove tiles. Test Pit 3 also contained a layer of burnt red clay, possible fragments of a packed earth floor from a 17th-century building. It is likely that a scientifically valuable 17th-18th-century cultural layer had formed at the site of the towns early development outward from the axis of the old former road near present-day Švenčionėlių Street. Sterile soil: light brown sand, was reached at this site at an average depth of 0.9-1 m.
