Summary / Abstract:

LT2007–2008m. lankant archeologinius paminklus Kaišiadorių rajone aptikti keli iki šiol nežinoti arba laikyti sunaikintais pilkapynai. Apie juos informuotas KPC, kurio darbuotojai nustatė paminklų teritorijas. Pilkapynus pasiūlyta įtraukti į NKVR [p. 474].

ENIn 2007, several new barrow cemeteries or ones that were considered destroyed were found in Kaišiadorys District. The KPC was informed of their discovery. It was suggested that the monuments be added to the NKVR. Kalviai Barrow Cemetery III is near Kalviai barrow Cemetery I, which is already known. It contains three mounds 5–6.5 m in diameter and 0.2–0.7 m in height. Signs of collapsed pits are visible at the foot of one of them. 5 mounds and one small cairn (stone paving?) were recorded at Klėriškės barrow cemetery. The barrows are 4–8 m in diameter and 0.15–0.6 m in height. Fragments of stone kerbs or other constructions are visible at the foot or top of the majority of them. Several mounds have been slightly disturbed. At the site of Nemaitonys (Žydiškės) barrow cemetery, which was investigated in 1970 and later destroyed, one somewhat disturbed mound was found. It is 16.5 x 8.5 m in size and about 1 m in height. Two stones are protruding on the sides of the mound. There are six mounds (one of which is uncertain or badly disturbed) and one small cairn at Varkalės barrow cemetery. The barrows are 6.5–13.5 m in diameter and up to 1.5 m in height. A large number of stones: parts of kerbs or paving are visible on the edges or top of the majority of them. Some of the mounds have also been disturbed. On the basis of their appearance and structure, the discovered barrow cemeteries should be dated to the Middle Iron Age.
