ENIn 2008 the APC “Antiqua” conducted surveys at various locations in Vilnius Old Town. 8 m2 was surveyed at Vokiečių St. 20 and a cultural layer recorded at a depth of up to 0.6–0.9 m. The layer’s upper horizons were formed in the 19th–20th centuries. The cultural layer’s 17th–18th-century horizons were reached at the projected depth underneath the courtyard (pits 5–8). 134 m2 was surveyed at Arklių St. 5. A mixed 19th–20th-century layer was recorded and the basement foundations of a 19th-century building were discovered. 4 m2 was excavated at Vilniaus St. 41. A cultural layer formed during the 19th–20th centuries was recorded at a depth of up to 1.2 m. Fragments of stone paving and the foundation of building 5 (19th–20th century) were unearthed. 87.5 m2 were surveyed at Maironio St. 5. It was established that the cultural layer on the side of the former Bernardine monastery is up to 3 m thick. The upper horizons of the cultural layer were destroyed during earthwork conducted in the 20th century. A fragment of stone paving dating to the early 17th century was recorded at a depth of 2.6 m.
