Žvalgymai Didžiojoje g. 25

LT2008 m. LII MTS atliko archeologinius žvalgymus Vilniaus senojo miesto vietoje, Didžiojoje g. 25. Darbai vyko šiluminės trasos klojimo vietoje, iki žvalgymų pradžios mechanizuotai iki projektinio gylio iškastoje tranšėjoje, t. y. archeologiniai darbai pradėti jau pažeidus kultūros vertybę (nelegalius žemės kasimo darbus sustabdė KPD Vilniaus teritorinis padalinys). Taigi archeologine ir paveldosaugine prasme buvo žvalgoma apnaikintų vertybių zonoje. Pirminis žvalgymų tikslas – įvertinti atidengtų kultūrinio sluoksnio horizontų stratigrafiją, jų susiformavimo aplinkybes ir chronologiją, atlikti atidengtų mūrų architektūrinius tyrimus, juos užfiksuoti, nustatyti jų vertę ir chronologiją, iki projektinio gylio ištirti likusią neiškastą tranšėjos dalį [p. 413].

ENIn 2008 a survey was conducted in a 70.5 m2 area at the site of an illegally dug heating system trench at Didžioji St. 25. It was dug down to the projected depth of 1.2–1.5 m. Sterile soil was not reached. A cultural layer dating to the second half of the 17th–20th century was recorded. Besides pottery sherds, a hoard of coins from the 1910s was found. Fragments of masonry constructions (8 structures) dating to the late 17th–19th century were discovered. The majority of the buildings should be ascribed to the late 17th–18th century. They declined after the 1748 fire. The structures formed in this part of the quarter prior to the 20th century were demolished after the Second World War.
