Utenos gatvė

LT2007 m. pabaigoje UAB „Ukmergės melioracija“ užsakė archeologinius žvalgomuosius tyrimus Ukmergės senamiestyje (A1959), Utenos gatvėje, į Š nuo Ukmergės piliakalnio, prie vadinamosios „žydų pirties“ griuvėsių. Numatomų rekonstruoti ir išplėsti paviršinių nuotekų valymo įrenginių vietoje buvo iškasta žvalgomoji perkasa ir joje aptiktas intensyvus 1–1,3 m storio XVIII a. kultūrinis sluoksnis (ATL 2007 metais, V., 2008, p. 379–381). KPD tuomet buvo rekomenduota leisti vykdyti statybos darbus tik atlikus išsamius archeologinius tyrinėjimus jų vietoje. 2008 m. balandžio mėnesį archeologiniai kasinėjimai buvo atnaujinti. Pačiame Pirties gatvės R gale, šiuo metu apaugusiame žole, buvo ištirtos 3 perkasos – iš viso 58 m² dydžio plotas (iš viso 70 m² su 2007 m. perkasa) [p. 384].

ENIn 2008 an investigation was conducted at the site (a total of 58 m2) of the reconstruction of the rainwater treatment facility on Utenos Street in Ukmergė. The corner of a masonry building erected at the turn of the 19th century (the ‘Jewish sauna’), an 18th-century cultural layer about 1 m thick with abundant ceramic, glass, metal, and leather finds, two wooden posts, two postholes, and a mid-18th-century storage pit were discovered in the trenches. The 39 coins found during the excavation helped to date the three 18th-century horizons of the cultural layer (first quarter, second – third quarters, fourth quarter). This is the first archaeological investigation conducted in Ukmergė Old Town to yield results.
