Vytauto ir Birutės gatvės

LTSimne (Alytaus r.), Birutės ir Vytauto gatvių kiemais numatyta kloti vandentiekio vamzdynus. Žemės darbų vieta patenka į kultūrinio paveldo saugomą teritoriją – miestelio istorinį centrą, jo R pakraštį. Todėl IĮ „Senų senovė“ čia atliko tyrinėjimus, kurių metu buvo iškasti 5 bendro 11,25 m2 ploto šurfai bei žvalgytas 147 m ilgio ir 40 cm pločio tranšėjų kasimas. Nors Simno gyvenvietė minima nuo 1382 m., o Simnas rašytiniuose šaltiniuose minimas nuo 1494 m., archeologinių duomenų apie šį miestelį neturėta [p. 373].

ENA field evaluation was conducted at the places where water supply and sewerage network are being laid in residential home courtyards to the NE of Vytauto Street and to the SE of Birutės Street, near their intersection in the town of Simnas (Alytus District). Five test pits (a total of 11.25 m2) were excavated and a 147 m x 40 cm trench was surveyed. A 50–80 cm thick disturbed cultural layer, the remains of the foundation of a former structure, and paving were discovered. About 130 finds were collected: wheel thrown pottery, ‘cup-shaped’ (Becherkacheln) and gable (Giebelkacheln) stove tiles, and hand-forged nails. The earliest finds can be dated to the 16th century, the others to the 18th–19th centuries and even the 20th century.
