LTRuošiant naują sklypo Puodžių g. 10 / Druskininkų g. 8 užstatymo projektą reikėjo nustatyti tikslų išlikusio rūsio ir virš jo esančių sienų planą, todėl čia 2008 m. birželio mėnesį buvo atlikti archeologiniai tyrinėjimai [p. 313].
ENA basement, found during a 1988 field evaluation of 26 quarters, was excavated on the plot at Puodžių St. 10 / Druskininkų St. 12. The width of the S end of the unearthed building is 5.54 m, the length of the W wall 8.25 m, the length of the E wall together with the basement stairs 8.02 m, and the thickness of the walls 60–64 cm. The masonry consists of almost only bricks with occasional field stones. One room, the floor of which was laid with 20 x 20 x 4.5 cm square clay tiles, existed on the ground floor. A basement, covered with a cylindrical vault one brick thick, was located under the building. The basement was 5–5.11 x 3.92–3.95 x 2.53 m. Two windows had been installed in the E and S walls of the basement for light. Access to the basement was through stairs in the NE corner of the building. The stairwell and the vestibule were covered by a cylindrical vault half a brick thick. The cultural layers formed prior to the construction of the basement contained late 15th – early 16th-century pottery. The basement and the building above it were probably erected in the mid-16th century. The layers above the demolished building contained stove tiles dating to the second half of the 17th – early 18th century and household pottery sherds.
