Summary / Abstract:

LT2008 m. tęsti dvaro sodybos rekonstravimo darbai, todėl buvo numatyta ištirti 2 objektus – buvusią Kurtuvėnų miestelio turgaus aikštę bei jos pakraštyje aptiktus akmeninius pamatus, dvaro sodybos kiemą tarp rūmų ir parko, kur 1998 m. tyrimų metu buvo rastas vertikalus medinis stulpas, kuris galėjo būti šaltiniuose minimo medinio „povalušo“ (ginklinės), pastatyto ant stulpų, liekana. Kurtuvėnų dvaro sodybos 2008 m. archeologinių tyrimų metu iš viso buvo ištirtas 542,75 m2 plotas: šurfai 1–19–38,75 m2; perkasa 36 – magazino pamatai – 384 m2; perkasa 37 – dvaro sodybos kiemas – 120 m2 [p. 232].

ENThe excavations, begun in 1995 and connected with the restoration of the manor, were continued on the grounds of Kurtuvėnai manor (Šiauliai District) in 2008. Two places were excavated: in Kurtuvėnai’s former town marketplace (test pits 1–19T, 38.75 m2 and trench 36, 384 m2) and in the manor courtyard (trench 37, 120 m2) between the manor house and the park. A total area of 542.75 m2 was excavated. No valuable cultural layer was found in the marketplace. The foundations of a 19 x 13 m storehouse oriented in a NE–SW direction was unearthed in trench 36 in the NE part of the marketplace. The storehouse was probably built in the 17th century, and by the late 18th century it was already derelict or had been demolished. Trench 37, 12 x 10 m in size, was excavated at what was thought to be the site of the Kurtuvėnai manor courtyard. Mixed earth dug in the late 19th century from the ditch for the foundation of Pliateriai manor, was found in it. Many diverse finds from previous eras were collected from the fill soil: bricks, lime mortar, plaster, roof tiles, window glass, window fittings, nails, stove tiles, pottery, and various other artefacts. The 2008 excavations and finds did not change the already established chronology of Kurtuvėnai manor, i. e. the 15th–20th centuries.
