Jakiškių neįtvirtinta gyvenvietė

LT2008 m. spalio 13–25 d. neįtvirtintos gyvenvietės teritorijoje ištirtas bendras 36,75 m2 plotas (plotas 1 ir šurfai 1–3), o pilkapyno teritorijose – 40 m2 plotas (plotai 2–4). Spėjamo pilkapyno vieta yra melioruoto Vilkiaušio upelio (Habs 67–68 m) dešiniajame krante. Jo teritorijoje nei pilkapių liekanų, nei kapų ar atsitiktinių radinių neaptikta. Vertingų duomenų suteikė neįtvirtintos gyvenvietės tyrinėjimai. Ji yra melioruoto Vilkiaušio upelio kairiajame krante (Habs 67– 68 m), terasoje (Habs 68 m), lyg saloje. Tyrinėjimų metu laukas, kuriame ji yra, buvo užsėtas žiemkenčiais. 2008 m. vizualiai žvalgant gyvenvietėje nustatyta sodybvietės teritorija. Jos tamsios žemės dėmė užima 23 m ilgio ŠR–PV (50–230°) kryptimi bei 14 m pločio PR–ŠV (120–300°) kryptimi (Habs 69 m), apie 300 m2 plotą) [p. 66-67].

ENIn 2008 a total area of 36.75 m2 was excavated at the Jakiškiai unfortified settlement site (Joniškis District) and 40 m2 on the grounds of the barrow cemetery. The settlement was on a terrace, a quasi island, on the improved left bank of the river Vilkiaušis. A spot of dark soil that is visible on this land and was the site of a farmstead, occupied around 300 m2. An undisturbed cultural layer of dark black earth with abundant charred stones, hand built pottery with rough and smooth surfaces (only a small per cent), animal bones, and fragments of charred clay daub was found at a depth of 20–30 cm at the excavated site. This layer contained several isolated finds: the curved spine of an iron knife, a jeweller’s chisel-shaped iron tool and whetstones. On the basis of the collected artefacts and the previously discovered chance finds from the barrow cemetery, the settlement dates to the second half of the 1st–3rd centuries.
