Summary / Abstract:

LT2009 m. rugsėjo–spalio mėnesiais APC „Antiqua“ atliko archeologinius tyrinėjimus ir archeologinius žvalgymus Vilniaus senamiestyje, sklype Vilniaus gatvėje 41. Šiame sklype esančio pastatų komplekso ŠV dalyje XIX a. pabaigoje – XX a. statytame pastate pagal projektą numatoma įrengti rūsį. Planuota ištirti visą numatomo pastatyti rūsio vietos plotą. Tačiau, pakoregavus statybinių darbų eigą, išsamūs archeologiniai tyrinėjimai atlikti tik juostinių pamatų kapitalinės sienos (rūsio Š sienos) statybos vietoje, apie 50 m2 plote. Archeologiniai žvalgymai atlikti griaunamo šioje vietoje stovėjusio kiemo korpuso vietoje, apie 340 m2 plote [p. 400].

ENIn conducting the reconstruction of the building complex at Vilniaus Street 41 in 2009, the NW part of this plot was investigated. On this plot stands the Renaissance Radvila palace, which was reconstructed in the first half of 17th century after joining together the masonry buildings that had previously stood at this site. The NW part of the palace did not survive. It was remains of precisely this part of the palace that were discovered during the excavation. The building foundations and nearby unearthed fragmented paving date to the first half of 17th century. The earliest cultural layer horizon at the excavation site dates to the late 14th–15th century. Many stove tile fragments were also discovered at the plot; demolished ovens were used as fill at the site in the late 16th – early 17th century. This was connected with the construction of the palace and the cleaning out of the buildings that had stood there prior to it.
