Šilutės (Šojaus) dvaras

LTNuo 1993 m. dvaro rūmų pastatas yra restauruojamas ir pritaikomas muziejinei veiklai. 2010 m. dvarą ir parką tvarkančios organizacijos užsakė archeologinius tyrimus, kuriais buvo siekiama patikslinti senųjų parko takų vietas, nustatyti jų dangos pobūdį, lokalizuoti kai kurių sunykusių statinių pamatus. Tyrinėjimai buvo atliekami 2010 m. liepos 13–15 d. Iš viso ištirtos 6 perkasos (bendras ištirtas plotas-63 m2). Tyrinėjimų Šilutės (Šojaus) dvaro sodyboje metu kultūrinio sluoksnio, kurį būtų galima datuoti ankstyvesniu nei XIX a. laikotarpiu, nerasta, tačiau aptikta atsitiktinių archeologinių radinių, datuojamų XVI–XVII a. laikotarpiu: montmorilonito (?) ąselės nuo indo, pagaminto veikiausiai Reino srityje Vokietijoje, datuojamos XVI–XVII a., ir kaolininio (?) puodelio fragmentas, pagaminto veikiausiai Lenkijos P dalyje, datuojamas XVI–XVII a. Šie radiniai nėra susiję su dvaro gyvavimo laikotarpiu ir veikiausiai yra iš šioje vietoje buvusios ankstyvesnės sodybvietės. Visiškai neaptikta XVIII a. datuojamų radinių. [...] [p. 264, 266].

ENDuring the excavation on the grounds of Šilutė (Šojus) manor, the foundations of some vanished structures (a veranda) and road paving were located on the manor’s grounds and additional data was collected for the project in preparation for the restoration of the building complex. In all, six trenches were excavated. Trench 1 contained the granite boulder (from 10x11x13 to 38x43x59 cm in size) and lime mortar foundation from the late 19thcentury wooden veranda and a cultural layer formed during the 19th–20th centuries. Trenches 2 and 6 contained the paving from the road that ran across the manor’s grounds. The stone paving was about 6.4 m wide and had storm drain gutters at the edges. Trench 4 contained an irregular paving of red clay bricks (that was about 60 cm wide). This was probably the remains of a path running along the edge of a depression. Trench 5 contained isolated stones and soil that had been completely jumbled in laying utility lines. No stones from the suspected paving were found but they had probably been hauled away in laying the utility lines and carrying out large-scale earthwork. No cultural layer, which could be dated earlier than the 19th century was found on the grounds of Šilutė (Šojus) manor during the excavation, but chance finds dating to the 16th–17th centuries were discovered: montmorillonite (?) handles from a vessel most likely manufactured in the Rhine area of Germany and a fragment of a kaolin (?) cup probably manufactured in the S part of Poland. These finds are not connected with the period of the manor’s existence and are probably from an earlier farmstead that existed at this site. Absolutely no finds dating to the 18th century were discovered.
