LT2011 m. Veliuonos (Jurbarko r.) buvusio grūdų magazino teritorijoje tyrinėti P ir R kiemai. Kiemuose numatyta statyti atviras terasas, tiesti inžinerinius tinklus, tvirtinti magazino pamatus, tad norėta ištirti juose esantį kultūrinį sluoksnį. Abiejuose kiemuose ištirtas 232 m2 plotas, atkastas 0,8–2,5 m storio XV a. I pusės-XX a. I pusės kultūrinis sluoksnis. ENIn 2011, 232 m2 were excavated in the S and E courtyards on the grounds of the former grain storehouse in Veliuona (Jurbarkas district) and a 0.8–2.5 m thick cultural layer from the first half of the 15th first half of the 20th century was discovered. The original relief at the storehouse’s grounds consisted of the S slope of Castle (Pilies) hill, a narrow former Nemunas valley at the hill’s foot, and the Nemunas floodplain which drops sharply towards the S. The earliest traces of human activity in the excavated area date to the first half of the 15th century. Potsherds from the first half of the 15th century and animal bones were found at the fire site among the charred and fire-split fieldstones, ashes, and charcoal. Gently sloping courtyards were created at the foot of Castle Hill during the mid 15th first half of the 20th century. The potsherds found in the bottom horizon allow the beginning of the courtyard’s formation to be dated to the mid 15th century. The earliest construction traces at this location are from the first half of the 17th century. At that time a wooden house with an unclear floor plan and a 9–12 cm thick compacted clay floor was erected at the site. The house burnt down in the mid 17th century.Green glazed and polychrome stove tile fragments from the first half of the 17th century, sherds of polychrome household pottery, and a cylindrical earthenware fishing net weight were found in its 10–14 cm thick layer of charcoal. The two adult males and two infants had been buried in the gently sloping W part of the courtyard in the mid 17th century. A rusted knife blade discovered in the area of the left wrist of a male who had been buried supine, was the only grave good found. During the mid 18th first half of the 19th centuries, the high spring floods of the Nemunas filled in the unpaved and uneven courtyard. A wooden building with an unclear floor plan was erected in the NW part of the courtyard near the slope of Castle hill (at the site of the storehouse) in the mid 19th century. Fragments of white glazed stove tiles and a handsomely decorated dark grey clay pipe bowl with an undetermined manufacturer’s mark was found in the layer of the building’s rubble.
