Gardino gatvė 1 ir Vilniaus gatvė 1

LT2011 m. lapkričio mėnesį atlikti archeologiniai tyrimai Merkinės senojo miesto vietoje (UK 3680), sklypuose Gardino g. 1 ir Vilniaus g. 1. Piliakalnio P ir V papėdėse yra papėdės gyvenvietė, kurioje rastas iki 2 m storio kultūrinis sluoksnis su XVI–XVII a. datuojamais radiniais, į R nuo piliakalnio yra XIV a. pabaigos-XV a. senkapis. XV a., po Žalgirio mūšio, Merkinės gyvenvietė-papilys-išsiplėtė. Manoma, kad jau XV a. pabaigoje-XVI a. pradžioje susiformavo miestelio centras, jame būta ne tik mūrinės gotikinės bažnyčios, bet ir daugiau mūrinių pastatų. XVI a. vidurys-XVII a. I pusė-Merkinės klestėjimo laikotarpis. 2011 m. tyrimai atlikti miestelio centre. Čia ketinama pastatyti naują viešąjį tualetą (Gardino g. 1), rekonstruoti XX a. 7 dešimtmetyje statytą kultūros centro pastatą (Vilniaus g. 1). [...] [p. 414-415].

ENIn 2011, field evaluations (a total of 16m2) were conducted on plots near the former market square in the central part of the town of Merkinė (S Lithuania), which has a rich history. The remains of a 19th century sanitation network were discovered in test pit 1 in the plot at Gardino st. 1. It is thought that this structure was for Russian Imperial soldiers, like the Orthodox church erected in 1888 on the foundations of the town hall. A fragment of an intact cultural layer was found only in test pit 1 in the plot at Vilniaus st. 1. The earliest cultural layer horizon dates to a period no earlier than the 16th century.
