ENIn 2012, area 4 (150 m2) was excavated at Liepų st. 4, 6 and a late 18th–20th century cultural layer up to 1.95 m thick was recorded. Four horizons were discovered in the layer: horizon I dates to the second half of the 20th century, horizon II second half of the 19th early 20th century, horizon III first half of the 19th century, and horizon IV the 18th century. Horizon I is levelling layers of sand from the second half of the 20th century. The late 19th century paving and fragments of fieldstone gutters, which were laid in the courtyard of a building that stood beside Liepų street were assigned to horizon II. Mid 19th and early 20th century sewer pipes were also recorded. Horizon III consisted of roughly 0.8–1 m thick layers of grey soil with brick rubble, grey sand, and yellowish sand. The site of a temporary building from the first half of the 19th century and a barrel set into the ground beside it were recorded. The building’s location was marked by a 3.71 x 1.95 m rectangular stain. A small utility building had obviously stood at this site. A horizon up to 25 cm thick with few signs of human activity and consisting of a layer of deposited yellowish sand was distinguished at a depth of 1.7–1.75 m. Based on the finds, this horizon dates to the late 18th century.
