Jauniaus Gumbio Lietuvos dailės kolekcija

LTNuo 2012 metų muziejus kartu su Lietuvos kolekcininkais rengia jau tradiciniu tapusį parodų ciklą „Muziejus ir kolekcininkas“. Parodomis ir leidiniais į kultūrinę apyvartą įvedama daug iki tol nežinotų vertybių. Kolekcininkas advokatas dr. Jaunius Gumbis, kuris per du dešimtmečius sukaupė vertingą Lietuvos dailės kūrinių kolekciją, sako: Aš juos renku ne sau, kad vienas žiūrėčiau. Tegu žino visuomenė, tyrinėja mokslininkai. Nesijaučiu visiškas kūriniu šeimininkas. Dailininkas kūrė ne man vienam. Aš kūrinius tik įsigijau. Pradėjęs kolekcionuoti tapybos darbus jis susidomėjo ir liaudies skulptūra. Tai darė tikslingai, nes šias liaudies meno sritis sieja tie patys siužetai, panašus vaizdavimo būdas, dažnai ir tas pats meistras, drožęs skulptūras ir tapęs paveikslus. Skulptūra ir tapyba dažnai sudaro vientisą kompoziciją. Didžioji Lietuvos dailės kolekcijos dalis yra XVIII-XX amžiaus pradžios liaudies skulptūra ir tapyba. Dalį kolekcijos sudaro liaudies meno ištakas Lietuvos Didžiojoje kunigaikštystėje atspindintys dailės kūriniai. LDK portretinei tapybai būdingas vaizdo paprastumas ir naivi tapybos raiškos forma artima liaudiškos kūrybos tradicijai. [...] [Iš Įvado].

ENThe world outlook of the Lithuanian nation, traces of its customs and lifestyle, times of distress, and the pain of loss, hope and trust have been imprinted in folk art. A great many works of folk art have been taken away from Lithuania. Therefore we must preserve the remaining ones as the live essence of the nation. The National Museum of Lithuania holds the largest collections of the historical heritage of Lithuania including folk art, historical painting and graphic art, publishes their catalogues and displays them in exhibitions. Together with Lithuanian collectors the museum organizes the already traditional series of exhibitions The Museum and the Collector”. Quite many previously unknown valuable works are introduced into cultural circulation through exhibitions and publications. In the words of the collector, lawyer, dr. Jaunius Gumbis, who has accumulated a valuable collection of Lithuanian works of art during two decades, lam not collecting these works to look at them privately. Let society see them, and let scholars make research. I don’t think I am the exclusive owner of these works. The artists did not create these works for my sole pleasure. I have only acquired them with my own funds. Jaunius Gumbis began to collect paintings, and some time later took interest in folk sculpture as well. These forms of folk art are related by the same plots, similar means of representation, and often even by the same masters who carved sculptures and painted pictures. The larger part of the accumulated collection of Lithuanian art consists of objects of folk art - folk sculpture and painting from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century.
