LTNedaug galėtume išvardinti dailininkų, kurie savo kūryba būtų taip giliai įsiskverbę į gimto krašto dvasinę prigimtį ir tuo pat metu išliktų modernūs, nepriklausomi bei atviri mus supančiam pasauliui ir sau pačiam. Tokia yra Gražina Vitartaite - tapytoja iš mažos, unikalios šalies, kurios sena, garbinga praeitis, nepakartojama, graži gamta ir daininga žmonių kalba, primenanti lygumų upės tėkmę, tarsi užprogramavo šios menininkės kūrybos ištakas. Iš gentainių paveldėjusi artimą ryšį su gamta, lyrizmą ir muzikalumą, būdama imli naujovėms ir patiems netikėčiausiems kūrybos impulsams, ji išvystė savitą stilių, kurį šlifuoja, transformuoja ir kuria iki šios dienos. Jau daugelį metų stebime subtilias ir nenuspėjamas šios dailininkės minčių metamorfozes: kaskart jos atsiranda tarsi iš nieko - mums įprastų vaizdų, teptuko potėpių - ir virsta vidinių refleksijų vizualizacijomis, fantastiniais iliuzijų pokštais, supainiojusiais visas realybės formas, bet nepaneigusiais išgyvenimų autentiškumo. Derindama tradicinės tapybos principus su šiuolaikiška konceptualizuota menine mąstysena, ji kuria asociatyvius vaizdinius ir lengvais mostais tikrovės pasaulį paverčia slaptingo, nenuspėjamo vyksmo išraiška. Vitartaitės kūryboje vyksta nuolatinė formų kaita, atrandami nauji meninio sprendimo būdai, atliepiantys ir dabartinio mūsų pašėlusio gyvenimo pulsą [p. 90].

ENOnly a handful of painters have dived deep into the spiritual nature of their native land in their works and yet remained modern, independent, and open to the world around them and to themselves. Gražina Vitartaitė is one of them. She is a painter hailing from a small, unique country with long and honourable past, unique and beautiful nature, and melodious language of its people that reminds the flow of a river winding through flatlands, all of which seem to have mapped out the painter’s creative source. Having inherited from her tribesmen close ties with nature, lyricism and musicality and being keen on new things and entirely unexpected creative impulses, she has developed a unique style that she has been honing, transforming and moulding to this day. For many years we have watched the subtle and unpredictable metamorphoses in her thoughts, and each time they seem to emerge from nothing - from images, from brushstrokes we find usual - to depict internal reflections, fantastic tricks of illusions that jumble up all shapes of reality, yet do not deny the authenticity of things experienced. Combining the principles of traditional painting with modern conceptualised artistic thinking, she creates associative images and, with easy strokes, transforms the real world into an expression of mysterious, unpredictable happenings. The characteristic feature of her works is the constant shift of shapes and discovery of new artistic approaches that also are in tune with the pulse of our frenetic modern life. Yet, as she enters the modern, contemporary space, she never crosses the line beyond which lies the digitised, computerised virtual reality, imitations of artistic ideas and speculations.
