Summary / Abstract:

Sprendžiant pagal bendrą senkapio kontekstą, rasti kapai datuojami XIV−XV a. [...] [p. 189-190].

ENPaūdronys old cemetery was discovered in 2012. Based on the data from the excavation conducted the same year, the cemetery was included in the KVR, but the cemetery’s actual boundaries were known only approximately. From a heritage preservation perspective, the investigation of the cemetery in order to determine the cemetery’s precise boundaries is important. In 2013, a further excavation (a total of 41.54 m2) was conducted on the cemetery’s grounds. Two inhumations (37, 38) were found in trench 4 (11.54 m2). The individual in burial 37 was interred with the head to the N (340º), supine, the right arm bent at a right angle with the hand on the waist, and left arm bent at an obtuse angle with the hand on the pelvis. No traces of a coffin or grave goods were found. According to the anthropological analysis, a male over 40 was interred in the grave. The individual in burial 38 was interred with the head to the NW (320º), supine, the arms extended, and the hands on the femurs. Darkening of the soil due to the addition of rotten organic material was also recorded to the right of the individual. This was probably the remains of a completely vanished hollowed log (?) coffin. No grave goods were found. According to the anthropological tests, a 30–40 year old male was interred in the grave. Judging from the cemetery’s general context, the discovered burials should be dated to the 14th–15th centuries. No burials, human bones, or archaeologically valuable finds were discovered in trenches 5 (10.0 m2), 6 (10.0 m2), or 7 (10.0 m2).
