Gyvenvietės Palangoje, Žemynos gatvėje 7, žvalgomieji tyrimai

LT2013 m. spalio 24 d.-lapkričio 4 d. vykdyti žvalgomieji tyrimai Palangos miesto istorinės dalies (UK 12613) vizualinės apsaugos pozonyje, sklype Žemynos g. 7. Tyrimų tikslas buvo nustatyti, ar žemės sklype Žemynos g. 7 yra archeologinio pobūdžio vertingųjų savybių. Sklype buvo ištirti 4 šurfai po 2x2 m-iš viso 16 m2 . Šiuo metu sklypas nėra užstatytas, jame auga pavienės pušys bei veja. Žemės paviršius šiek tiek žemėja Š kryptimi, vidutiniškai nuo Habs 13,00 m iki Habs 12,50 m. XVIII a. pabaigos kartografijoje dabartinėje sklypo Žemynos g. 7 teritorijoje ir gretimoje aplinkoje vaizduojama smėlinga dykynė. Maždaug už 70 m į PR nuo dabartinio Žemynos g. 7 sklypo XVIII a. pabaigos žemėlapyje pavaizduota vienintelė artimiausia vieta, susijusi su žmogaus veikla-dirbamos žemės sklypas, žemėlapyje įvardytas kaip "Pleszyma darža". Už 100 m į V nuo Žemynos g. 7 sklypo tame pačiame žemėlapyje pažymėtas kelias-dabartinė Vytauto gatvė. Artimiausias tuometinis užstatymas buvo Š kryptimi už 300 m. Planuojama tyrimų vieta urbanizuota gana vėlai-XX a. pradžioje. 2013 m. žvalgomieji tyrimai parodė, jog geležies amžiaus-XVIII a. kultūrinis sluoksnis Žemynos g. 7 sklype koncentruojasi sklypo P dalyje. Tais pačiais metais šio sklypo užstatomose dalyse atlikti detalieji tyrimai (žr. D. Balso, M. Petkaus ir R. Kraniausko straipsnį šiame leidinyje). [...] [p. 76-77, 79].

ENIn October and November of 2013, an evaluation was conducted in order to detect archaeologically valuable objects on the plot at Žemynos st. 7, Palanga. Four test pits (a total of 16 m2 ) were excavated. Three cultural layer horizons were identified in test pit 1. The upper horizon contained small fragments of 16th-18th century hand thrown ceramics, one with green glaze. The middle horizon contained fragments of hand built ceramics with granite temper. Several dark 20–50x5 cm lines up to 5 cm thick as well as a posthole 9 cm in diameter and 5 cm deep were detected on the soil’s surface. The lower horizon consisted of burnt earth containing small pieces of charcoal. Test pit 2 contained two horizons, the upper with small fragments of 16th-18th century hand thrown ceramics, the lower with pieces of charcoal and a fragment of hand built ceramics with granite temper. Test pit 3 contained the contours of a round pit with a channel, but no other clear signs of human activity. Test pit 4 had no signs of a cultural layer. Six boreholes were made to locate the range of the cultural layers in test pits 1 and 2. Boreholes 2, 3, and 6 showed traces of them. The evaluation in 2013 showed that a cultural layer dating from iron age to the 18th century exists in the S part of the Žemynos st. 7 site.
