Dariaus ir Girėno gatvė

LT2014 m. tęsta (pradėti 2013 m.) Varnių miestelio (Telšių r.) Dariaus ir Girėno gatvės rekonstrukcija, kurios metu planuota ją visiškai renovuoti. 220 m šios gatvės atkarpos patenka į Varnių senojo miesto (UK 2535) teritoriją. UAB "Kvėdarsta" užsakymu prieš darbus šioje atkarpoje 2014 m. balandžio mėnesį atlikti detalieji tyrimai. Jų metu ištirtos 7 įvairaus dydžio perkasos (iš viso 308 m2 ). Jų metu iš viso surasti 1469 keramikos ir koklių fragmentai (inventorizuoti 551), datuojami XV-XX a. Daugiausia tai puodyninių, puodyninių-kryžminių ir dubeninių koklių fragmentai, keletas plokštinių koklių, buitinės keramikos fragmentai, metalo dirbiniai-dvinarės XVII–XIX a. žirklės, kaltinės vinys, peilio ašmenys, bato apkalas, vėlyvo pjūkliuko fragmentas. ENIn 2014, the investigation (begun in 2013) on Dariaus ir Girėno street in the town of Varniai continued with the excavation of seven various-sized trenches (a total of 308 m2). In all, 1469 pottery and stove tile fragments dating to the 15th–20th centuries were found and 551 catalogued. Mostly these were fragments of "pot-shaped" stove tiles (Topfkacheln) with standard and cruciform throats and of "bowlshaped" stove tiles (Schüsselkacheln) in addition to several panel stove tile (Blattkacheln) fragments, sherds of household pottery, and metal artefacts. A late 19th-20th century stone paving was unearthed under the asphalt in the excavated areas with a 10–60 cm thick 19th century cultural layer with sparse finds under the paving. This last layer was replaced by a layer of small boulders at a depth of 60–80 cm in places. Fragments of stone paving dating to the second half of the 18th–19th century were unearthed at a depth of 0.85–1 m in some of the plots with a 15th-18th century cultural layer with abundant finds (stove tile fragments, sherds of household pottery) under it in areas 1–3 and partially in areas 4–5, and 7. Cultural layers disturbed during earlier earthwork (in laying utility lines and conducting investigations) were recorded in a large part of the excavated areas.
