LT2014 m. rugsėjo-spalio mėnesiais Klaipėdoje, Atgimimo aikštėje atlikti žvalgomieji tyrimai. Rengiamas šios vietos detalusis planas, kuriuo siekiama suformuoti užstatymą remiantis čia buvusiu istoriniu užstatymu ir įamžinti buvusį istorinį gatvės tinklą. Atgimimo aikštės teritorija miestui atiteko dar XVI a. pabaigoje ir šį naują rajoną pradėta vadinti Krūmamiesčiu. Apibendrinant 2014 m. tyrimų rezultatus teigtina, kad po iki 2 m storio XX a. menkaverčiais judinto bei atvežtinio grunto sluoksniais yra išlikę XVII–XVIII a. archeologiniai Krūmamiesčio sluoksniai. Žvalgomųjų tyrimų metu fiksuoti apardyti pamatai bei grindinių fragmentai menkai siejasi su turima kartografine medžiaga. Tai gali būti aiškinama tuo, kad kartografinėje medžiagoje pastebima užstatymo kaita XVIII, XIX bei XX a. Pastatai statyti toje pačioje dabartinės Atgimimo aikštės teritorijoje ir naujai statytų pastatų pamatai persidengia su ankstesnės statybos pamatais. [...] [p. 331, 336].
ENIn 2014, a field evaluation was conducted Klaipėda’s Atgimimo square. Eight trenches (a total of 100 m2 ) were excavated in roughly 1 ha. A detailed plan, which seeks to provide information about development on the basis of former historical development and to commemorate the former historical street network, is being prepared for the investigated location. This part of the old town is known in historical sources from the late 16th century, but the main prewar development accents began to form in the first half of the 19th century and acquired their final form after the Great Fire of 1854. During the Second World War the investigated area was severely damaged. In 1981 plans were made to create Lenin Square on the grounds of Atgimimo square and the Klaipėda hotel buildings that had survived the war were demolished. Cultural layers mostly datable to the late 18th-19th centuries were recorded during earlier investigations in the vicinity of present-day Atgimimo square. Meanwhile the late 16th-17th century culture of Krūmamiestis is still not clear. Partially disturbed foundations and paving fragments poorly linked with the available cartographic material were recorded during the evaluation. This can be explained by the fact that changes in the plot’s development in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries are noticeable in the cartographic material. The buildings were erected in the same places in present-day Atgimimo square and the foundations of newly constructed buildings covered the foundations of earlier ones. The location of the Stock Exchange building that stood on Atgimimo square was identified, but additional excavations need to be conducted in order to determine its size and form. The street structures that existed in the excavated areas survived poorly. No clear signs were discovered that would allow the locations, widths, or construction of the streets to be identified. Only elements of the former streets and items used in paving them were found: worked and unworked paving stones as well as stone and concrete footpath pavers. Owing to the small investigation area, the 17th-18th century cultural layers of Krūmamiestis, a suburb of Klaipėda, were recorded only in places.
