Summary / Abstract:

Iš viso iškasti 5 šurfai, ištirtas 10 m2 plotas, atidengtas 0,64–1,1 m storio 4 horizontų XV a. II pusės-XVII a. vidurio kultūrinis kiemo sluoksnis. Šie žvalgomieji tyrimai yra pirmieji sklype. Arčiausiai tyrinėta vieta-sklypas Smilgos g. 6–8, esantis 72 m atstumu į Š. 1999 m. jame buvo ištirtas 80,5 m2 plotas, atidengtas 0,8–1 m storio kultūrinis sluoksnis su XVII a. I pusės-XX a. pradžios radiniais. [...] [p. 320-321].

ENThe NW part of the empty, abandoned, rectangular plot at Didžioji st. 28 was surveyed in Kėdainiai old town. The plot’s owner wishes to put the plot in order and prepare it for the construction of a residential house with commercial space. A total of five test pits were excavated and 10 m² surveyed. A 0.64–1.1 m cultural layer with four horizons, which consist of courtyard layers from the second half of the 15th mid 17th centuries, was unearthed. The courtyard began to form in the second half of the 15th century after the creation of a plot of unclear size and plan in an uneven and pitted location in the Nevėžis valley. The plot was beside the old Vilnius-Raseiniai Road that ran in the 15th-16th century along present-day Didžioji street. During the 16th-first half of the 17th century the courtyard was unpaved but in the mid 17th century it acquired a cobblestone paving with the sharp side of the cobbles placed down on a 20 cm thick layer of fine whitish gravel. A carefully paved gutter ran obliquely in the paving and had probably been oriented to another gutter that ran parallel to the house that stood at the site of the one currently at Didžioji St. 28 and led to a gutter created on the narrow edge of Pilies (now Didžioji) street. In the first half of the 20th century, a levelling fill layer was created on top of the paving. This was done at the site of surveyed plot during the construction of a rectangular wooden outbuilding, which was demolished after the Second World War. A beer pavilion was erected at its site in 1972. After building the current house at Didžioji st. 28 in the E part of the plot in 1980, the surface of the now empty NW part of the plot was raised 0.5–1.5 m and topped with concrete. In time of excavations different artefacts were found.
