Kapai Kauno tvirtovės dešiniojo Nemuno kranto centrinio įtvirtinimo reduto teritorijoje

LT2015 m. spalio mėnesį Kauno tvirtovės dešiniojo Nemuno kranto centrinio įtvirtinimo reduto (UK 26533) teritorijoje atlikti žvalgomieji archeologiniai tyrimai. Jie vykdyti norint nustatyti, ar reduto teritorijoje yra vokiečių karo belaisvių palaidojimų. Tyrimų užsakovas yra VDK. Redutas yra Kauno miesto R dalyje, į P nuo K. Baršausko gatvės. Jis priklauso XIX a. suformuotai Kauno tvirtovės gynybinei sistemai. Tyrimų vieta parinkta numanomoje buvusių kapinių vietoje. 2015 m. spalio mėnesį reduto R šlaite, numanomų belaisvių kapinių vietoje ištirtos dvi bendro 20 m2 ploto 5x2 m dydžio perkasos. Abiejose perkasose po velėna ir dirvožemiu glūdi kietas molingas sluoksnis, suformuotas XIX–XX a. reduto įrengimo metu. Įžemis nepasiektas. [...] [p. 477].

ENIn 2015, a field evaluation was conducted on the grounds of the redoubt of Kaunas fortress’s central fortification on the right bank of the Nemunas in order to determine whether German POWs had been buried on the redoubt’s grounds. Two 5x2 m trenches (20 m2) were excavated. Three human burials where the bodies lay without any order, one atop another, were discovered at a depth of 0.7–1 m in trench 1. The individuals had been interred with a NE-SW orientation in trenches that were roughly 70 cm wide and up to 1 m deep. The remains were not exhumed. The remains of no finds or clothing were found near the individuals. Based on archive data, it is conjectured that the burials belong to German POWs who were held in a POW camp in the vicinity of Kaunas VI Fort.
