Summary / Abstract:

LTMalūnų g. namo 4 teritorijoje 2004 m. ištirti 6 šurfai. Kultūrinio sluoksnio storis visuose šurfuose buvo 2,1-2,5 m. 1,3-1,7 m gylyje tirti XVII a. susidarę sluoksniai su būdinga to meto medžiaga ir keramikos gamybos atliekomis bei keramikos išdegimo krosnies liekanomis (ATL 2004 metais, V., 2006, p. 246– 249, šurfai 3, 5). 2008, 2009 m. anksčiau ištirtų šurfų aplinkoje tyrinėtas 68 m2 dydžio plotas demontuojamos šiluminės trasos vietoje. Kultūrinis sluoksnis čia buvo sunaikintas, rasta pavienių XVI–XX a. buitinės keramikos fragmentų, o sklypo PV dalyje tirti XVI–XVII a. grindinio ir medinio pastato fragmentai (ATL 2008 metais, V., 2009, p. 404, 405). Malūnų g. namo 6 teritorijos archeologiniai tyrimai pradėti dar 2004 m. Tuo metu namo vidiniame kieme žvalgomųjų tyrimų metu ištirti 6 šurfai. Tirtas 1,4–2,5 m storio XVII–XVIII a. sluoksnis, rasta daug to meto daugiausia keraminių radinių, numizmatinės medžiagos, pavienių XIV a. pabaigos-XVI a. I pusės radinių, puodų šukių. Dalis keraminių radinių-gamybos brokas. XVII a. koklio matrica buvo susijusi su keramikos gamyba (ATL 2004 metais, V., 2006, p. 246–249). [...] [p. 415, 422].

ENIn 2015, 340 m2 were excavated in the E part of the house at Malūnų st. 4. The cultural layer that formed during the second half of the 15th early 21st century was up to 3.5–4 m thick. 1593 15th-19th century finds, 17th and 19th century coins, and 16th–17th century merchandise seals were discovered. Based on the earlier investigations on the grounds of the homes at Malūnų st. 2–6, it was known that during the 16th mid 17th centuries a craftsmen quarter existed at this location, the majority of the finds from this area being connected with pottery production. In 2015, the remains of a mid 15th century pottery kiln and a deformed stove tile from the second half of the 17th century were discovered during the investigation of basement C. These finds allowed the data from the earliest investigation of the area to be revised. In September 2015, 7 m2 were excavated in the inner courtyard of the house at Malūnų st. 6. 56 15th-16th century finds were discovered and a 1.2–1.3 m thick cultural layer from the 16th and 21st centuries was investigated. The remains of two 16th century pottery kilns excavated in 2004 were expected to be found there. There was a desire to preserve them and their discovery site and to display them in an underground room in the inner courtyard. After unearthing the remains of the 16th century kiln, it was determined that during the previous ten years, it had changed significantly, i.e. had deteriorated. In the N part of the excavated area, the 2004–2015 fill layer was excavated down to natural soil. The remains of the nearly square, 16th century pottery kiln that had existed there in 2004 had been completely destroyed by unauthorised earthwork prior to the start of the investigation. In the S part of the area, after unearthing the kiln site investigated in 2004, the wall and the remains of the pad of mid 16th century pottery kiln K1, which had not survived completely, was seen; kiln K2, which was under it, dated to the second quarter of the 16th century, and had survived fragmentally, was also investigated.
