Žvalgomieji tyrimai Virbalyje

LT2015 m. birželio-rugsėjo mėnesiais Virbalyje (UK 17125, UK 20557) (Vilkaviškio r.) buvo atlikti žvalgomieji tyrimai bei žvalgymai. Tyrimai vykdyti projektuojamų nuotekų šalinimo įvadų vietose-Birutės g. 1, 2, 12, 13, Gedimino g. 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 21, 23, 33A, Laisvės g. 6, 9, Maironio g. 3, 15, Kudirkos Naumiesčio g. 2, 4, 6, 7, Vilniaus g. 1, 26, Kauno g. 1A, 2, 2A, 3, 3A, P. Vaičaičio g. 2, 7, Vištyčio g. 6, 9, 12, 15, Vydūno g. 5, 14. Siekta išsiaiškinti kultūrinio sluoksnio amžių, gylį, storį. Įvadai į gyvenamuosius pastatus turėjo būti kasami atviruoju būdu, tranšėjomis, todėl šių darbų metu galėjo būti sunaikintas kultūros paveldas. Projektuojamų įvadų ilgis-nuo 1 iki 60 m, gylis-0,4-1,2 m, plotis-40-50 cm. Įvadų vietose ištirti 37 šurfai (iš viso 55 m² dydžio plotas), kuriuose fiksuotas 1–2,45 m storio kultūrinis sluoksnis, datuojamas XVII–XX a. MKM saugojimui buvo perduoti 352 radiniai. ENDuring June-September 2015, field evaluations and surveys were conducted at the sites of planned sewer service lines in the city of Virbalis: Birutės st. 1, 2, 12, 13, Gedimino st. 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 21, 23, 33A, Laisvės st. 6, 9, Maironio st. 3, 15, Kudirkos Naumiesčio st. 2, 4, 6, 7, Vilniaus st. 1, 26, Kauno st. 1A, 2, 2A, 3, 3A, P. Vaičaičio st. 2, 7, Vištyčio st. 6, 9, 12, 15, and Vydūno st. 5, 14. In all, 37 test pits (a total of 55 m²) were excavated and a 1–2.45 m thick, 17th-20th century cultural layer was recorded in them. The 352 discovered finds were handed over to the protection of the MKM. A 17th-18th century cultural layer was distinguished under the 19th-20th century destroyed layers in the test pits excavated at Birutės st. 2, 13, Gedimino st. 9, 21, 23, Maironio st. 3, Kudirkos Naumiesčio st. 2, 7, Vilniaus st. 26, and Vištyčio st. 6, 9, 15. This layer was recorded at a depth of 45–115 cm and was 15–55 cm thick. Household pottery, fragments of panel and vessel stove tiles, hand-forged nails, and other finds characteristic of this period were discovered during the investigation. Fragments of stone foundations were found in the test pits excavated at Birutės st. 13 and Vilniaus st. 26 and two 17ths century postholes were discovered in the natural soil in the test pit beside the house at Maironio st. 3. After the excavation of the test pits, monitoring (a total of 87–109 m²) was conducted at the service line sites on the plots at Gedimino st. 6, 21, Birutės st. 1, 2, 13, Vilniaus st. 1, Vištyčio st. 9, 15, and Kudirkos Naumiesčio st. 2, 7. The total length of the ditches was 218 m. No finds of value to science or a museum were encountered during the monitoring.
