ENIn 1633, Jieznas became the home of the Pacas family who erected a luxurious palace there. In 1837, a large part of the palace burnt down and the manor was abandoned. In 2015, a field evaluation was conducted near the late 18th century building for the manor’s workers. The building is a N-S rectangle with an avantcorps (Ital. risalto) in the centre of the E and W sides. During the evaluation, a total of 3 m2 were excavated and it was determined that the avant-corps on the E side was constructed later than the building itself. Inside the building, a brick duct, which was part of the heating system and ran towards the central chimney, was discovered under the floor. Several 18th century stove tile and pottery sherds were found in the rubble above the duct’s vault.
