ENThe article deals with the book written by Leon Potocki “Kazimierz z Truskowa, czyli pierwszy i ostatni litewski powstaniec” which is a documentary and artistic account of the events of the November Uprising (1830–1831) in Żmudź and Lithuania. The writer focuses on the personality of the legendary Lithuanian hero of the uprising Kazimierz Truskowski, whose fate was traced by Potocki from the time of the uprising to the last days of his life. Taking into account the compositional structure, the plot, and the system of images, the author reveals the specific features of the author’s style, which is based on historical facts, documents, and participants memories. The factual basis of the book is supplemented with elements of artistic understanding of events, which allows us to consider the work as a sample of the writer’s documentary prose.
