Žiežmarių bažnyčios šventorius

LT2016 m. atlikti žvalgomieji tyrimai ir žvalgymai Žiežmarių miestelyje (Kaišiadorių r.), Vytauto g. 1, Šv. Apaštalo Jokūbo bažnyčios teritorijoje, remontuojamos bažnyčios šventoriaus tvoros vietoje. Istoriniuose šaltiniuose nurodoma, kad bažnyčią Žiežmariuose maždaug 1501–1502 m. įkūrė Lietuvos didysis kunigaikštis Aleksandras. Bažnyčia buvo medinė, jos pastatymo vieta nežinoma. Jai sudegus kita pastatyta 1620–1621 m. miestelio centre. Žiežmariai smarkiai nukentėjo per 1655 m. karus, bažnyčia buvo sudeginta, tačiau 1672 m. jau minima iš rąstų pastatyta nauja bažnyčia. XX a. pradžioje pastatas buvo labai prastos būklės, todėl nuspręsta statyti naują mūrinę bažnyčią pagal inžinieriaus Vaclovo Michnevičiaus projektą. Bažnyčia pradėta statyti 1914 m. Dėl I Pasaulinio karo darbai užsitęsė. Dešinysis bokštas pastatytas 1929 m., o kairiojo dėl lėšų stygiaus nėra iki šiol. [...] [p. 248].

ENDuring a 2016 field evaluation and survey in the churchyard of the Žiežmariai (Kaišiadorys district) church of St James the Apostle, 4.6 m2 were excavated and 40 m2 surveyed. It was determined that the NW surface of the present day churchyard was formed in the early 20th century during the construction of the present day church building (1914–1924). A layer of grey soil with abundant rubble was recorded down to a depth of 1.5–2.2 m (from the current surface of the churchyard). The burials discovered during the investigation should be dated to the 17th century and be connected to the cemetery that used to exist at this location.
