Summary / Abstract:

LT2016 m. Atliekant žvalgymus parke fiksuoti pilkos smėlingos žemės sluoksniai su nedideliu kiekiu XVI–XIX a. datuojamų archeologinių radinių. Kada susiformavo ankstyviausi kultūrinio sluoksnio horizontai, nenustatyta. Ankstyviausi radiniai datuoti XVI a. [...] [p. 195].

ENIn 2016, the investigation continued at the Sapiega residence and the Trinitarian monastery and hospital building complex in Vilnius. In the historic Vilnius suburb of Antakalnis, an investigation was conducted in connection with earthwork being performed in adapting former 19th-century hospital buildings, which are part of a building complex begun in the late 17th century on previously inhabited land, to the activities of Vilnius techpark. 113.5 m2 were excavated and 642 m2 surveyed. During the investigation, a cultural layer was recorded in various parts of the building complex and 16th–18th century finds were collected, mostly fragments of household pottery and structural ceramics. The remains of buildings (an orangery), which had once stood in the park and paving fragments covered by a later cultural layer were found. But only isolated finds were discovered in the earliest cultural layer horizons that existed in part of the excavated areas. This attests that activities did not occur with equal intensity throughout the investigated territory. It is possible to think that part of the later territory of the Sapiega residence park had been occupied by 16th–17th century outbuildings. The existence of this habitation probably also explains the concentrations of finds in separate areas of the investigated territory.
