ENIn 2017, two coin assemblages, i.e. two purses with coins, were discovered during an investigation at Naugarduko st. 2A, Vilnius. The first (c.1710/2017) consisted of 66 Polish, Prussian, and Dutch Republic silver coins in four denominations: 60 sixgroats, 3 orts (18 groats); 2 złoty (30 groats), and a thaler (6 orts). The coins encompass a period from 1660 to 1709. The most likely hypothesis is that the plague epidemic that ravaged Vilnius in 1710– 1711 led to the hiding of the discovered purse. The second (c.1925/2017) consisted of 37 bronze and nickel Republic of Poland 1923 coins: 17 five groszy; 16 ten groszy; 2 twenty groszy; and 2 fifty groszy. It is possible to think that the purse was placed there circa 1924-25 and forgotten, but it was thrown away no earlier than 1940.
