Alytaus Šv. Liudviko bažnyčia

LTAlytaus Šv. Liudviko bažnyčia stovi ant kalvos Alytaus senojo miesto teritorijos ŠV pakraštyje. Šventorius, aptvertas akmenų mūro tvora, užima 47-58x41 m skersmens plotą. Pirmoji medinė bažnyčia dabartinės Šv. Liudviko bažnyčios vietoje pastatyta 1524 m. Yra žinių, kad ji sudegė 1655 m. karo su Rusija ir Švedija metu. Medinė bažnyčia 1658 m. atstatyta ir vėl sudeginta 1663 m. miestą užėmus Rusijos kariuomenei. XVIII a. medinė bažnyčia, dar mažiausiai 2 kartus degusi ir atstatyta, vėl sudegė per 1810 m. Alytų siaubusį gaisrą. 1818 m. klebono kunigo Liudviko Kaminsko ir parapijiečių iniciatyva pastatyta nauja akmenų ir plytų mūro bažnyčia. Dabartinį vaizdą bažnyčia įgavo po to, kai 1930-1931 m. primūrytas priestatas iš didžiojo altoriaus pusės bei 4 kolonų portikas priekyje su bokšteliu varpams. Senoji medinė varpinė nugriauta. 2013 m. nustatyta, kad bažnyčios pastato būklė avarinė.2017 m. tyrimai buvo susiję su bažnyčios pastato kapitalinio remonto projekto rengimu: bažnyčios šventoriuje (planuojamų geologinių gręžinių vietose) buvo ištirti 4 šurfai (bendras 5,6 m2 plotas), bažnyčios viduje (projektuojamų atraminių kolonų vietose) ištirti 6 šurfai (7,26 m2 ). ENIn 2017, a field evaluation (10 test pits, a total of 12.86 m2 ) was conducted inside the Church of St. Louis and in its churchyard. The remains of at least 15 burials were discovered and eight skeletons (six adult and two children) were excavated and exhumed. The individuals had been buried in coffins with their heads to the SW. No grave goods were discovered in the burials. Nails (coffin and ones connected with the construction of the church), sherds of hand thrown household pottery, shards of window glass, etc. were collected in the mixed soil found in the test pits. The remains of a leather belt and a coin purse with a 17th century coin were discovered in test pit 14. The graves date to the 16th-20th centuries. Other masonry fragments not connected with the current church building were found in test pits 12 and 14. They should perhaps be associated with crypts or earlier church buildings, which stood at this site prior to the construction of the present building.
