Biržų senoji dvarvietė

LT2017 m. balandį Rotušės g. 2A, Biržuose, apie 2500 m2 teritorijoje, patenkančioje į Biržų piliavietės (UK 1905), Biržų senojo miesto vietos (UK 3219) bei istorinės miesto dalies (UK 17073) teritorijas, vyko žvalgomieji tyrimai. Tyrimų vieta yra svarbi tiriant Biržų miesto raidą bei XVI a. I pusės Biržų senojo dvaro istoriją. Dvaras minimas 1528-1530 m. Jurgio Radvilos ,"Dvarų surašyme" (Malczewska M., Latyfundium Radziwiłłow w XV do połowy XVI wieku, Warszawa, 1985, p. 140). Archeologiniai tyrimai Biržų dvarvietėje vyko 1930, 2011-2012, 2014 m. (Mikelėnas J., Mūsų senovė, Biržų žinios, 1930, nr. 32 (311); ATL 2011 metais, 2012, p. 361-364; ATL 2012 metais, 2013, p. 370-371; ATL 2014 metais, 2015, p. 612). 2017 m. žvalgomųjų tyrimų metu iškasti 4 šurfai, ištirtas 17 m2 bendras plotas. Radiniai perduoti BKSM. Apibendrinus 1930-2017 m. tyrimų medžiagą aiškėja, kad XVI a. kultūrinis sluoksnis koncentruojasi Rotušės g. 2A PR pusėje, apie 85x40 m dydžio teritorijoje. Tarp Rotušės g. 2 ir 2A supiltinis sluoksnis yra nuo 1,5 iki 3,5 m storio. [...] [p. 237, 239].

ENIn 2017, a field survey (4 test pits, a total of 17 m2 ) was conducted on the grounds of the Biržai Manor site. A cultural layer dating to the first half of the 16th century and containing stove tile sherds and five postholes from a burnt structure or fence were discovered in test pit 1. A stone foundation fragment from a former manor building was found in test pit 2. A stone and clay construction up to 3 m wide, which was used to reinforce the 16th century manor site on the SW, was unearthed in test pit 4. This construction was later adapted to reinforce the SE slope of the outer moat of 17th century Biržai Castle. According to 1930-2017 investigation material, it is possible to think that the 16th-century cultural layer is concentrated in a roughly 85 x 40 m area on the SE side of Rotušės St. 2A. During the digging of the moat for 17th century Biržai Castle after the manor site burnt down circa 1579, 1.5-3.5 m thick fill layers were deposited between Rotušės St. 2 and 2A.
