Mykolo ir Vaclovo Biržiškų apdovanojimai ir ženkleliai

LTLietuvoje 2018 m. liepos 11d. Rasų kapinėse buvo perlaidoti iš JAV pervežti Vasario 16-osios Akto signataro Mykolo Biržiškos ir jo žmonos Bronislavos Biržiškienės, brolių Vaclovo ir Viktoro Biržiškų palaikai. Trys broliai - Mykolas, Vaclovas ir Viktoras - gimė Viekšniuose gydytojo, visuomenės veikėjo Antano ir mokytojos Elžbietos Biržiškų šeimoje. Visi trys tapo visuomenės veikėjais ir švietėjais, užėmė svarbią vietą ir paliko ryškų pėdsaką XX a. I pusės Lietuvos visuomenės, mokslo, kultūros ir politikos gyvenime. Mykolo ir Vaclovo Biržiškų indėlis ir nuopelnai Lietuvos Respublikai buvo įvertinti valstybės apdovanojimais [p. 155 ].

ENIn 1935, the signatory ofthe February 16th Act Mykolas Biržiška (1882-1962) was awarded the 3rd degree Order of Vytautas the Great, and the 1st degree Order ofthe Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas in 1938. Both awards are now missing; however, several awards ofthe Scout Association as well as some badges once owned by Mykolas Biržiška have survived and are now on display in the House ofSignatories in Vilnius. His brother, the historian of culture Vaclovas Biržiška (1884-1956), was awarded the 3rd Degree Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas in 1928, which is now stored in the Manuscript Department of Vilnius University Library. It is highly significant to preserve memorial items that belonged to prominent figures and to offer an opportunity to the society to access such heritage.
