ENThe production of and trade in fabrics in the city of Krosno was booming in the 14th-16th centuries; however, nothing was known about the lead seals ofthese fabrics until now. The Krosno fabrics were mostly intended for the home market, i.e., the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, due to their simplicity. Nevertheless, in 1365, Krosno was also granted an exclusive privilege by the king to trade their fabrics with Ruthenia and Hungary. The article discusses the lead seals of one type bearing an image of an eagle on the one side and that of a lion on the other. The finds ofthese lead seals are currently known to have been discovered only in Vilnius and the present Russian Federation. Earlier, there were certain attempts to attribute this type ofseals to two Flemish cities, but this article denies such attempts. Taking into consideration the heraldic symbols on the seals, their find spots, well-known fabric manufacturers and historical facts, it can be stated that the lead seals with an eagle within a dotted rim on the one side and a standing lion on the other are the lead seals ofthe Krosno fabrics. These lead seals should be dated to the 4th quarter 14th century - early 15th century. [From the publication]
