Paupio ir Sodų gatvės

LT2018 m. Paupio bei Sodų gatvėse buvo atlikti detalieji tyrimai ir žvalgymai. Tyrimai vykdyti apie 410 m ilgio Paupio gatvės atkarpoje bei apie 300 m ilgio Sodų gatvės dalyje. Paupio gatvėje ištirtas 36 m2 plotas (2 perkasos) ir atlikti žvalgymai paviršinių gatvės remonto darbų metu apie 2275 m2 plote, žvalgytos 240 m2 ploto paviršinių nuotekų ir apie 70 m2 bendro ploto vandentiekio trasos bei 145 m2 ploto šulinių duobės ir įvadai (žvalgymų plotai 1–18). Paupio gatvėje tiriant perkasas ir žvalgant aptikti nuo 40 cm iki 1,4 m storio XVII a. viduriu-XXI a. datuojami kultūriniai sluoksniai su XVIII a. II pusės-XIX a. vidurio užstatymo liekanomis ir XX a. gatvės dangomis. Taip pat rasta XVII a. vidurio-XVIII a. I pusės palaidojimų. Vėlyvuose sluoksniuose rasta radinių iš piliakalnio (keramika, šlakas). Tyrimų metu rasti 138 radiniai: XIII–XIX a. datuojamų buitinių keramikos šukių, XVIII a. II pusės-XIX a. vidurio monetų ir stiklo dirbinių. Radiniai perduoti UkKM. [...] [p. 349, 351].

ENIn 2018, an excavation and survey were conducted on Paupio and Sodų streets in Ukmergė, in a roughly 410 m segment of Paupio street and in a roughly 300 m segment of Sodų street. On Paupio street, two trenches (a total of 36 m2) were excavated and a watching brief was conducted during the repair of: the street’s surface (roughly 2275 m2), the street gutters (240 m2), a waterline (roughly 70 m2), and manhole pits and service lines (145 m2) (Surveyed Areas 1–18). 40 cm-1.4 m thick, mid 17th–21st century cultural layers with the remains of second half of the 18th mid 19th century structures and 20th century street surfaces were discovered in the trenches and during the survey on Paupio street. Burials from the mid 17th first half of the 18th centuries were also found. Finds from the hillfort (pottery, slag) were discovered in late layers. It was determined that an archaeologically valuable layer has survived on the edges of the street in the segment from Piliakalnio street to the plot at Paupio st. 21. The layer under the carriageway was destroyed during the laying of utility lines. During the survey on Sodų street, a watching brief was conducted during the surface work (about 1600 m2) and during work on the street gutter route (150 m2). 19th–21st century cultural layers, up to 1 m thick, and disturbances to a depth of 2 m from the digging of utility lines were found at the route locations. 138 finds were discovered during the investigation: sherds of 13th–19th century household pottery as well as coins and glass artefacts from the second half of the 18th–19th centuries.
